Riverside goats cheese is made from raw milk handmilked daily on the smallholding in Woolfardisworthy, 5 miles north of Crediton. Mature hard cheeses with a complex flavour and the simplest and freshest soft white goats cheeses are available.
We have a small herd of goats to supply our dairy needs as part of our smallholding. Our aim is to live as self sufficiently as possible with a minimal impact on the environment. To this end we grow our own fruit, vegetables and herbs organically, pork, geese, eggs and some of our own firewood. We generate some of our electricity with a wind turbine and hot water with a solar panel.
The goats have free access to browse 3 hectares of unimproved pasture supplemented by locally sourced hay and GM free high quality animal feed.
The only added ingredient (apart from cheese cultures) to the cheese is salt. Fresh herbs, grown on the smallholding, are added to some of the soft cheese.
